I put the tiny pellets in an old nylon hose, tied it off and put it in HOB so water would flow over it. Replace every 4 days of so and the brown algae cleared in a few weeks. WebMar 19, 2011 · For the phosguard, I don't see that stuff removing any diatom algae you may have already had before you added it. It may stop any new growth or impede it, but don't see it making existing stuff disappear. I would have done a good cleaning of it prior to adding to then test and see what difference it made to give a fresh start.
